How did my happiness turn into a frown,
We used to be so close now no matter how close we’d rather be on the other side of town,
I was warned……..look at me now,
Love is an action word that is so profound,
Equally at work so easily spun around,
Distance is farther when your hearts no longer make a sound,
Not a beat nor a pound,
Wasted space and air just surround,
Side way passes in hallways, fast pace movements, and all eye contact avoided just blurry visions in the peripheral as our heads are pointed to the ground,
What is lost cannot be found,
What captured us initially and thoroughly has now been suffocated and burned to an ash mound,
No longer physically, mentally, emotionally, or spiritually bound,
No more calls of or cause for concerns to be found,
Each other we no longer hound,
No ideas or feelings to further expound,
No more words and actions that contradict or confound,
In my own sorrows I’ve drowned,
I see myself in the mirror clearly and know that I’m to take responsibility for my actions, but perfection wasn’t ever my goal just greatness crowned,
Seemingly with great power comes even greater responsibility and the more problems compound,
Love I know you’re always here yet elusive at times but I still believe in you and won’t let you run aground,
Bitter, broken, angry, faulty, blamed, ashamed, disappointed, negative, disowned, careless, misunderstood, no good, bipolar, narcissistic, unfair, unforgiving, non listening,
A toast to everyone that has let me down.
