“MS. MIRROR”

MS. MIRROR ON THE WALL,

YOU HAVE ALWAYS SHOWN ME ALL MY FLAWS,

I STARTED OUT CUTE, LOVABLE, AND SMALL,

THEN LIFE BEGAN TO SHOW ME IT ALL,

I WROTE IN MY DIARY EVERY SINGLE NIGHT,

I SAT IN FRONT OF YOU AS YOU WATCHED ME WRITE,

I PUT ON MOMMY’S MAKEUP PRETENDING TO BE HER, BUT ME OLDER IN LIFE,

I ALWAYS PRETENDED TO BE SOMEBODY’S LOVING WIFE,

MS. MIRROR YOU ALWAYS STAYED AND NEVER LEFT MY SITE,

THERE ARE MANY TIMES THAT I WOULD CRY AND MY TEARS YOU ALSO WATCHED ME WIPE,

YOU KEPT ME IN CHECK WHEN I DIDN’T DRESS RIGHT,

YOU SHOWED ME EXACTLY WHAT I WOULD LOOK LIKE,

THERE WERE DAYS I DIDN’T LIKE YOU AND SCREAMED AT YOU WITH HATRED AND SPITE,

I ALMOST CRUSHED YOU FOR HURTING ME WHILE LOOKING INTO YOUR EYES,

OVER TIME I GREW AND NOTICED MORE THINGS GROWING OUTSIDE,

MORE CURVES AND MY GOAL TO STAY PRETTY ALWAYS BECAME A CONSTANT FIGHT,

DADDY ALWAYS TOLD ME I WAS THE PRETTIEST STAR IN THE SKY IN THE DARK AND DAY LIGHT,

I GUESS FROM ALL THE ATTENTION I GET MY DADDY WAS SURELY RIGHT,

MS. MIRROR YOU SHOWED ME DIFFERENT STYLES TO WEAR MY HAIR – DOWN, UP, CURLED, OR IN A BUN TIGHT,

WHEN I AM DOWN YOU FIND A WAY TO ALWAYS KEEP MY HEART FILLED WITH DELIGHT,

I TRY NEW THINGS IN FRONT OF YOU AND YOU ARE ALWAYS THE SAME YOU NEVER MOVE TO INDICT,

WHEN HE BROKE MY HEART YOU PROMISED ME REPEATEDLY THAT EVERYTHING WOULD BE ALRIGHT,

THE VERY NEXT WEEK ALL WAS BETTER AND LIFE WAS NEW AND BRIGHT,

THERE WERE SOME BAD TIMES, BUT MANY MORE HAPPY ONES WITH YOU THAT I CAN REMEMBER OUTRIGHT,

LIKE GOING TO HOMECOMING, THEN PROM, THEN DATES IN COLLEGE WHICH WERE SOMETIMES LATE NIGHTS,

ALWAYS COMING BACK HOME TO YOU AS YOU LISTENED INTENTLY TO ME TELLING YOU HOW IT WAS OUT OF SIGHT!

THE MANY DRESSES I WORE TO EACH OCCASION I CAN RECITE,

BECAUSE OF YOU MS. MIRROR I ALWAYS LOOKED THE BEST YET STAYED HUMBLE AND POLITE,

ALL OF MY DREAMS HAVE FINALLY COME TRUE I AM IN FRONT OF YOU TWIRLING IN A DRESS THAT IS ALL WHITE,

MS. MIRROR I THANK YOU FOR ALWAYS BEING HERE FOR ME AND ALWAYS BEING MY GUIDING LIGHT.
