“SANTA GRANT ME ONE GIFT”
I was supposed to believe in you when I was so much younger and so small,
I never caught a glimpse you coming and going down the hall,
Yet every single year you brought not only to me,
You emptied out your bag full of gifts, and you gave to my entire friends and family,
I’ve grown up now, and I am old enough to know,
That there is no such thing as a Santa, but in each and every couple I see the gift I cherish so,
I wrote one wish for a special gift, I’ll send it out tonight,
I know I procrastinated a little bit, but I had to make sure I wrote it down just right,
Dear Santa,
This year and every year hereafter I wish for you to bring,
Something very obtainable, that is so meaningful to me,
It’s not a gift to go and buy with money or credit cards,
See this one gift I need so much so my life will no longer be so hard,
I have no idea how you’ll wrap it up, but please make sure it’s not so tight,
I need this gift to last and last even after my life,
Please ensure there are holes or else it cannot breathe at all,
There must be enough space for it to maneuver around and not crunched up in a ball,
Santa please I’m asking you to package it lightly, mark the box fragile, and handle with care,
I’m asking you to wrap up and deliver so that it will always know I’m here.
It may be hard to capture, and place into a box I know,
It seemingly happens instantly with or without a mistletoe,
If you can just grasp the moment and simply send to me,
Santa I’m asking you to please grant this one gift that will forever be,
And so I’ll await on Christmas day to see if it is there,
A gift glimmering and shining so bright that is addressed to Jean-Pierre,
I wish for this gift to be shared with all those who passed away and are no longer physically here with us,
They are now residing joyfully playing up, up, up, above,
I will take care and never lose sight in the gift and always trust,
I will not allow it to be taken over by greed, hate, or lust,
Santa grant me the one gift, that Christmas is all about,
The gift that will take me back as a kid and make me scream and shout,
Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you all so much!
Dear Santa please let this gift I ask you so selfishly for be
the joyous, gift of unconditional love.
